Staying Power is an L-carnitine based formula that does not use carbohydrates. It is non-fizzing and ideal for horses that are difficult to feed for energy due weight, muscular or gastric difficulties.
Staying Power Concentrated Syringes are also available for competition and travel.
Description
Staying Power is a unique, patented supplement that uses pharmaceutical grade liquid L-Carnitine, developed with Verla-Pharm’s MAH® magnesium. The combined formula supports energy metabolism and muscle performance to help your horse work harder for longer and recover more quickly.
L-Carnitine is a naturally occurring amino type acid that is produced in the liver. It is crucially involved in the process of energy production and is needed for both substrate delivery and cell cycling. The horse’s herbivorous diet is naturally very low in L-carnitine meaning that supplementation can benefit horses performing hard work.
In addition to its role in energy production, L-carnitine has been shown to improve muscle adaptations in response to training. Two year old Standardbred horses supplemented with L-carnitine showed increased fast twitch muscle fibre concentration and capillarisation (blood supply). These responses are directly related to a horse’s ability to perform and sustain powerful work.
Staying Power is suitable for any horse or pony that fatigues easily or needs to develop strength, including thoroughbred youngstock, hardworking warmbloods and good doers that run out of steam.
Staying Power supports healthy muscle function, energy metabolism and circulation, and does not add calories to the diet. This makes it especially useful for horses that require a restricted diet (due to weight, allergy, ulcers, muscle myopathy etc.).
Staying Power is available as a daily Liquid and as Concentrated Syringes for quick, convenient use. To support overall fitness and strength, it is necessary to supplement Staying Power daily, but it can also be fed for short term needs such as competition, travel or a period of hot weather.

Composition: Water (55.3%); magnesium aspartate hydrochloride (MAH®) (27.5%)
Additives per kg: Nutritional additive L-carnitine (170000mg); preservative E 202 potassium sorbate (2000mg).
Feeding Advice
The feeding rate for Staying Power Liquid is 5ml per 100Kg bodyweight, fed twice daily. This can be doubled to 10ml per 100Kg around times of competition.
Some horses can be maintained on one feed daily, but it is advised that two feeds are required when looking to build strength or support healthy muscle function.
At 25ml fed twice daily (the standard amount for a 500Kg horse) a 1ltr will last 20 days and a 3ltr will last 60 days.
Staying Power Concentrated Syringes are also available and can be given alone or in conjunction with the Liquid.

Q. Do I need to feed Staying Power every day?
Staying Power is best fed every day to develop fitness and for muscular support. However, it can also be used effectively in the short term to help delay fatigue and support recovery. In this case you would simply feed a double amount (10ml per 100Kg) for a few feeds before competition and maintain for as long as needed.
Q. How long will Staying Power take to work?
Initial improvements in stamina should become apparent after only a few feeds. After a few weeks, changes in fitness and strength should also be noticeable.
Q. How do I feed Staying Power for competition?
You can use the Liquid and/or Staying Power Concentrated Syringes for competition, extra work, hot weather or travel. To feed the Liquid simply give a double amount (10ml per 100Kg) for three feeds prior.
Q. Will Staying Power cause unwanted behaviour? Staying Power is not a source of calorific energy and does not therefore have the short lived heating effect associated with high energy feeds. Staying Power supports the natural energy cycle to promote stamina rather than exuberance.
Q. Can I feed Staying Power with an overweight/laminitis prone horse/pony?
Yes, Staying Power supports a healthy metabolism, glucose handling and circulation. Staying Power does not contain sugars or carbohydrates.
Q. Can I feed Staying Power to ulcer prone horses?
Yes. Staying Power does not contain any ingredients that irritate either the stomach or hindgut.
Q. Can I feed Staying Power to a horse with PSSM?
Yes. Staying Power does not contain carbohydrates. It contains L-Carnitine and MAH magnesium which are known to support normal glucose metabolism, electrolyte management and muscle relaxation.
